How to Use our West Michigan InSite tool

The Right Place provides an interactive tool for West Michigan businesses and potential customers to search for and identify the properties, data, and companies that are important to their goals.

Search for Properties

Search available commercial and industrial properties by size, location, price and other factors. Property data provided courtesy of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors.

Search for Companies

Search for West Michigan companies by company name, NAICS code, location, keyword and other criteria. Data provided courtesy of The Right Place database and Dun & Bradstreet.

The Right Place is the first economic development organization in the country to use daily synchs from its database to inform this InSite tool, giving you the most accurate and current company information.

Search for Data

View West Michigan statistics and assets mapped by county and location. Data reflects the latest federal and commercial sources.

Tips for Use

• Hide/View InSite Navigation: In the InSite tool, click on the upper (Properties, Companies, Data) or lower (Legend, Base Map Options, Map Overlays, Thematic Legend) tabs to view more data options. Click on them again to hide that navigation.
• Properties/Advanced Search: Use this link under the “Properties” tab to identify additional criteria for property searches.
• Run Data Report/File It: These functions, identified as blue squares in the upper right corner of each result listing in a company or property search, allow you to either File that company or property information to compare to others later, or Run a custom demographic, workforce, or company report using individual properties as a base location. Each report may be downloaded for easy integration into other documents. If you do not see a report option for the data you need, use the “Request Assistance” link to contact a Right Place staff member.
• Data Search/Map Overlays: Clicking on the Data tab in InSight allows you to map selected data sets by county. Choose a data set from among the drop-down options, then click the “Map Data” button. A Thematic Legend in the lower right corner of Insite displays the number values corresponding to colors on the map. Use the Map Overlays tab in InSite to view specific infrastructures and assets – such as airports, rail, and medical – by location.
