Local minority-owned Mico Industries is expanding in West Michigan. As part of this expansion, the company will invest $8.2 million in its West Michigan operations and add 81 new jobs.

Leading defense contractor, Plasan North America, is relocating to Walker, Michigan. This company attraction will bring 120 jobs and $12.3 million in investment to the region. West Michigan competed against several other U.S. locations, including the highly-competitive states of Texas and Tennessee for this project.

Forbes has named the Grand Rapids-Wyoming region the 4th smartest city in America. The list highlights Grand Rapids for having a college education rate of over 30%, and for experiencing a 92% increase in its college-educated population since 2000.
