2012-13 Work Groups

The Council's Work Groups further its mission to enable and advocate for the implementation of "world class" manufacturing in West Michigan.  Participation is open to West Michigan manufacturers, and a brief summary of each work group is included below.  For more information, contact our MMTC Team.

 

Lean and Green

Champion: Steve Finney, Irwin Seating Company

  • Connect with Green Suppliers Network
  • Tap into knowledge of office furniture industry
  • Form Lean and Green User Group
  • Create a triple bottom line report for companies

University Partnerships

Champion: Bob Bieri, Lacks Trim Systems 

  • Benchmark what other regions have done to successfully engage with universities and colleges.
  • Build relationships with key colleges and universities in the area.

Growth & Viability

Champion: Doug Evans, ADAC Automotive

  • Identify capabilities of other companies to optimize utilization of equipment and people.
  • Better articulate capacity and capabilities collectively

Workforce Development

Champion: Jay Dunwell, Wolverine Coil Spring Company 

  • Explore new workforce development issues to pursue either through WIRED West Michigan or this working group
  • Promote the utilization of existing workforce development systems as a means to implement workforce development strategies
  • Promote work-based learning as an important component of workforce development
