HeadlightData.com aggregated the data and ranked the fastest and slowest growing metros, with growth measured as the percentage change in employment between 2015-2016. Grand Rapids landed at the top of the ranking with job growth at 4.4%, while overall U.S. employment grew at 1.7%. Grand Rapids topped other fast growing metros like Orlando (4.2%), Nashville (4%), and Charlotte (3.7%).
Grand Rapids regional employment grew from 516,394 in 2015 to 539,152 in 2016. The Grand Rapids metropolitan region was defined as Kent, Ottawa, Montcalm, and Barry counties.
