At the end of May, over 1,700 attendees will head to Mackinac Island for the 2019 Mackinac Policy Conference. The conference is hosted annually by the Detroit Regional Chamber and brings together leaders from business, government, and civic organizations. This year’s conference will focus on uniting One Michigan under three pillars: Prepare, Grow, and Love. Attendees will talk about the challenges facing the state, and how to move forward. There are many reasons to attend the conference, but here are three top reasons to book your ferry ticket now.

It’s where high-level networking happens.

There isn’t another event in Michigan we can think of that offers the opportunity to chat with the Governor on the porch of the Grand Hotel before meeting with national media columnists, elected policy leaders, and fellow business owners. It’s hard to put a price tag on the exposure and networking this conference can offer West Michigan business leaders.

It’s where big issues are tackled.

Historically, the voice of West Michigan business has been underrepresented at the conference, which is unfortunate because the conference is where some of Michigan’s most pressing challenges are discussed. It’s critical for our region to have a seat at the table during discussions around topics affecting the West Michigan business climate, such as education.

It’s where things get done.

Not only are conversations held around challenges facing the State of Michigan, solutions are also implemented. For example, the deal for the Gordie Howe International Bridge was signed at the Mackinac Policy Conference.
