MEDC Small Business Relief Program

IMPORTANT UPDATES: This program is now closed. All grant applicants were notified of whether or not their business was awarded grant funds on May 1, 2020.

Due to the emergency nature of this grant program, and quick process, we will not be able to respond individual inquiries for application reviews or appeals.

Final grant awardees can be found here.

We encourage you to explore additional funding support channels. Please take advantage of other programs that may be able to assist you, including:

  • SBA Payroll Protection Program (PPP): https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options/paycheck-protection-program-ppp. Applications for funding just reopened this week and many local lenders are working overtime to assist businesses with their applications.
  • It is recommended that businesses contact their local lender to discuss deferred loan payments, as well as communicating early with utilities, insurance providers and vendors about the need for delayed or forgiven payments.
  • Michigan Unemployment Insurance: https://www.michigan.gov/leo/0,5863,7-336-78421_97241---,00.html Recent changes make some 1099s, self-employed, contractors and sole proprietors eligible.
  • Small Business Development Center: https://sbdcmichigan.org/small-business-covid19/ -- Counselors are still meeting virtually with small businesses to assist with planning, cashflow, marketing, online sales and other aspects to consider in this unprecedented time. There are also on-demand webinars available on their website about various COVID-19 related business topics.
  • Additionally, new resources are becoming available each day. Please visit www.covidwm.org to stay up to date.
