Birgit Klohs Receives Leadership Award from the International Economic Development Council

Birgit Klohs, President and CEO of The Right Place, Inc. has received the Jeffrey A. Finkle Organizational Leadership Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The honor was presented at a recognition dinner on Monday, Sept. 26, during the IEDC Annual Conference in Cleveland, OH.

Birgit Klohs, President and CEO of The Right Place, Inc. has received the Jeffrey A. Finkle Organizational Leadership Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The honor was presented at a recognition dinner on Monday, Sept. 26, during the IEDC Annual Conference in Cleveland, OH.

The Jeffrey A. Finkle Organizational Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has grown and led world-class economic development organizations with integrity, tenacity, and philanthropic spirit resulting in significant and impactful long-term economic growth. The award is named after IEDC President and CEO Jeff Finkle.

Nominees demonstrate a vast knowledge of the intricacies of the economic development profession and play a pivotal role in the continued success of their organization and the communities they serve. They have not only exhibited exemplary leadership but have also worked tirelessly to develop the leaders around them and have a history of active participation with IEDC.

Beyond her work on the ground in Western Michigan, Klohs leads the international business strategy for The Right Place. Traveling on several annual international trade missions to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East each year as a voice for the region, she has worked to position West Michigan as a global destination for business success.

During her tenure with The Right Place, Klohs has set the stage for prolonged economic development success in Western Michigan. Over that time, Klohs and the organization have spurred the creation of over 44,000 jobs and $4.5 billion in capital investment. Today, Klohs has undeniably become the voice and economic champion of the region.
