In it's fourth-annual ranking of America's Hottest ZIP codes, realtor.com has named the 49508 ZIP code in Kentwood, Mich. as number one on its list. These "hot" zip codes have listings selling in an average of 20 days, significantly faster than similar market listings in other areas.

When identifying which areas would make the list, the Realtor.com team looked for the following attributes:

• Homes are relatively affordable
• Residents are employed at higher rates, and tend to earn more
• Millennials, in particular, are doing well
• Millennials hold the lion share of purchases

With a "hotness score" of 99.4, the Kentwood ZIP code outranked 50 other cities, including locations in Colorado, Texas, California, Massachusetts, Idaho, Ohio, Kansas, New York, and New Jersey. In 2017, a neighboring ZIP code, 49548, took the No. 3 spot on the ranking. This is the first year the 49508 neighborhood has made the list.
