Well look no further, because Grand Rapids businesses have reported some of the top hiring outlooks in the U.S.

Manpower Group, a world leader in innovative workforce solutions, recently published its United States Employment Outlook Survey for Q3 2019. The company conducts more than 11,500 interviews with U.S. employers across all 50 states, including those in the top 100 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs). The Q3 report evaluates hiring intentions among companies between July and September 2019.

Overall, Midwest* businesses reported a Net Employment Outlook of +25%. This figure is derived from the number of employers reporting staffing reductions, no changes in staffing, and increases in staffing levels.

The three Midwest sectors expected to see the highest increases in hiring are:

  • Construction
  • Government
  • Information

Stable hiring is expected in:

  • Durable Goods Manufacturing
  • Professional & Business Services
  • Wholesale & Retail Trade

In its analysis of the 100 largest MSAs in the United States, Manpower Group found the following areas to have the highest Net Employment Outlooks for Q3 2019:

  1. Charlotte, N.C. (37%)
  2. Grand Rapids, Mich. (36%)
  3. Madison, Wisc. (34%)
  4. Columbia, S.C.; Milwaukee, Wisc.; San Jose, Calif. (33%)
  5. Cincinnati, Ohio; Seattle, Wash. (32%)
