The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the City of Grand Rapids, has announced that Grand Rapids-based Jedco, Inc. will expand its aerospace manufacturing operations at 1615 Broadway Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. recently released its new 2017 Benefits Strategy and Benchmarking Survey, with data collected from 4,226 U.S. companies, including 144 from Michigan and 28 from West Michigan. The survey revealed new insights into West Michigan’s talent attraction and retention efforts by local CEOs.

By all accounts, 2017 was another record year of economic growth for West Michigan. And already, “2018 is shaping up to be another strong year,” according to Jim Robey, Director, Regional Economic Planning Services, W.E Upjohn Institute. Robey’s message was delivered on December 14 at The Right Place’s 2018 Economic Outlook event, which attracted nearly 400 attendees for an in-depth review of 2017 and a look ahead to 2018.

The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the City of Greenville, Montcalm Economic Alliance (MEA), Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and other state partners, has announced that Wisconsin-based dairy processing cooperative Foremost Farms will invest $57.9 million on a 96-acre site in the Greenville Industrial Park in Greenville.

According to reports by Headlight Data and Forbes, Grand Rapids is one of the fastest growing economies in the nation. Recently, the Bureau of Economic Analysis analyzed metros across the country to determine which ones had the fastest growing Gross Regional Product (GRP) between 2011 and 2016. The city of Grand Rapids came out in the top 10, ranking No. 7 overall.

Grand Rapids was recently named the top city in the nation for living a balanced lifestyle by MagnifyMoney. Factors taken into account on this ranking included average commute time, housing cost relative to income, income relative to hours worked, and people in excellent health.

This week, The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announced that The Right Place, Inc. was accredited by IEDC as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). The Right Place has become one of only 62 economic development organizations in the country to achieve AEDO accreditation.

The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), announced that Grand Rapids-based Axis Company will invest $4 million to expand its capabilities, resulting in adding 50 high-tech jobs.

Using data compiled by U.S. Census Bureau, Michigan's 83 counties have been ranked by highest number of manufacturing jobs. This ranking used the average number of residents employed in manufacturing from 2012-2016. Out of the 83 counties in Michigan, Kent County ranked No. 4 with the average number of manufacturing jobs totaling 58,285.
