Greater Grand Rapids leads population growth for Michigan
According to U.S. Census Bureau, as of last summer, Grand Rapids saw a population increase of 1,135 residents. Surrounding townships also saw significant increases, boosting the overall population gain for the region.

In it's fourth-annual ranking of America's Hottest ZIP codes, realtor.com has named the 49508 ZIP code in Kentwood, Mich. as number one on its list. These "hot" zip codes have listings selling in an average of 20 days, significantly faster than similar market listings in other areas.
City of Grand Rapids named one of fastest growing economies
According to reports by Headlight Data and Forbes, Grand Rapids is one of the fastest growing economies in the nation. Recently, the Bureau of Economic Analysis analyzed metros across the country to determine which ones had the fastest growing Gross Regional Product (GRP) between 2011 and 2016. The city of Grand Rapids came out in the top 10, ranking No. 7 overall.

Grand Rapids was recently named the top city in the nation for living a balanced lifestyle by MagnifyMoney. Factors taken into account on this ranking included average commute time, housing cost relative to income, income relative to hours worked, and people in excellent health.
Kent County recognized as a top county for manufacturing
Using data compiled by U.S. Census Bureau, Michigan's 83 counties have been ranked by highest number of manufacturing jobs. This ranking used the average number of residents employed in manufacturing from 2012-2016. Out of the 83 counties in Michigan, Kent County ranked No. 4 with the average number of manufacturing jobs totaling 58,285.
