The Right Place’s Technology Taskforce aims to position the Greater Grand Rapids Region as leading tech cluster in Midwest

The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the Village of Sparta, announced that global adhesives manufacturer, tesa tape, Inc., will be expanding its current location at 324 S Union St. in Sparta. In addition to a capital investment of $36 million, the expansion will bring at least 25 new jobs to the area.

The Right Place, Lakeshore Advantage, Greater Muskegon Economic Development, Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center-West (The Center-West), and Michigan Economic Development Corporation, launched a West Michigan Industry 4.0 campaign to increase manufacturers’ smart manufacturing technology adoption readiness. Implementing Industry 4.0 technologies into operations helps manufacturers to create opportunities for improved efficiency, higher revenues, and increased innovation.

Back To Michigan, a collaborative, state-wide event spearheaded by Hello West Michigan and The Right Place, was awarded a Silver and Bronze ranking by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at the Council’s 2021 annual conference.

The latest release of population and diversity data from the U.S. Census Bureau demonstrates that West Michigan continues to grow as a popular region that can compete with significantly larger metropolitan areas.

The Manufacturing Leadership Summit 2021 will take place Thursday, September 23 in Grand Rapids. Presented by The Right Place, Inc. and the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center-West (The Center-West), the Summit will deliver attendees a line-up of industry experts who will touch on a wide-array of topics surrounding technology, talent and innovation.

Today, The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), announced that electronic and autonomous vehicle solution provider, Gen3 Defense & Aerospace, and Blackmer®, part of PSG®, a Dover company, will be expanding their operations in the Greater Grand Rapids region.

As pandemic restrictions ease and businesses begin the transition to a post-pandemic mode of operation, The Right Place team met with leaders from 118 area companies in the month of June. These meetings were designed to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our regional companies, while offering insight into the region’s overall economic health.

The onset of summer has long coincided with an influx of internships hosted within companies large and small. For many college students, these internships provide the first taste of a 40-hour work week in an office environment. Internships are critical skill development tools, helping to prepare the next wave of employees to enter the professional workforce post-graduation.

Today, The Right Place, Inc., in collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the City of Walker, announced that pallet racking and storage company, Speedrack Products Group, Ltd., will be expanding its Michigan operations to a new facility at 3060 South Industrial Drive NW in the City of Walker. In addition to a capital investment of nearly $65 million, the expansion will bring more than 160 new jobs to the area.
